Flickers of Hope is a cinematic 3D scene centered around a simple emotional idea: a lonely hand discovers companionship in a series of dancing lights.
The project uses a minimal visual premise to explore emotion through lighting, movement, scale, and atmosphere. Rather than relying on dialogue, the piece communicates its idea through visual storytelling.
I developed the concept and directed the entire visual experience. I designed and created the 3D scene in Blender, including the hand animation, environment, painterly materials, and lighting.
I focused heavily on lighting and animation to establish the emotional tone of the scene. I designed the camera movement and composition to guide attention toward the interaction between the hand and the lights and used timing and movement to give the lights a sense of playful personality.
I completed the piece through rendering, compositing, editing, and color.
